A small tree grown in Madagascar that yields a colorless, pungent essential oil. Ravensara essential oil has recently become popular among practitioners due to its apparent effectiveness against viral infections such as herpes, chicken pox, and viral hepatitis. It has the added benefit of being gentle on the skin and calming. Ravensara is also an effective yet gentle oil for respiratory system support.
Fights infection: Broadly anti-infectious, especially with viral infections like influenza ("flu"), chicken pox, hepatitis, and herpes. Despite a lack of scientific studies on Ravensara, many practitioners feel that viral infections do respond to this oil.
Thins mucous secretions: Useful as an expectorant.
Reduces inflammation: Particularly effective for the respiratory tract. Reduces swollen and inflamed tissue membranes in the nose and throat.
